As you know, Haiti has been in the news lately for all of the wrong reason. In January 2010 a devastating earthquake took countless lives and an outbreak of cholera has caused even more disease and death in this small, beautiful island. What most people don’t realize is that Port au Prince is not the poorest area of Haiti. Northwest Haiti has been one of the poorest areas of the island and children there have some incredible challenges.
LifeQuest Church will be making a trip to St. Louis du Noord, Haiti from March 6-12. The purpose of this trip is to provide orphans who have special needs with medical attention. We will be working with Northwest Haiti Christian Mission in the Miriam Center. This center is home to over 30 children who were abandoned or whose parents died. All of these children have special needs such as cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome and autism. Most of them have never been given a routine medical examination.
The team from our church includes a local pediatrician who will be giving physical exams to the children in the orphanage. We will also be working with families that live in the community to make sure that they have healthy children as well.
Your generous donation will help us raise funds for this important and life saving trip. We have asked so many people in our community to help us raise funds for medicines, equipment and supplies for these children. It is through the collective effort of our community that we are able to help save lives in a country ravaged by death.
